  • Ford vs Ferrari

Your interview with the sound editor from the movie Ford versus Ferrari was great. I also think Don Sylvester should have won the Oscar for A Complete Unknown instead of Dune. In 20 years which one will hold up?

  • Great listening

I enjoy Damien’s show so much because he’s always prepared, and equally a good listener. He has the ability to guide the questions to paint an emotionally accurate portrait of the guest, and also follow up when he can see it will shed more edifying light. I highly recommend.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep 283: Shirley Billigmeier on Food, Creativity, and the Body’s Natural Signals
Q: How does the hunger scale practically help someone in daily life?
It anchors awareness by guiding people to identify their stomach signals and place eating around a five-point balance, reducing mindless eating and reconnecting with body cues.
Ep 283: Shirley Billigmeier on Food, Creativity, and the Body’s Natural Signals
Q: What sparked Shirley to focus on hunger as the core of her work?
The realization that traditional dieting kept failing and that the word hunger itself revealed a boundary system that could realign eating with energy and well-being.
Ep 284: From Imagination to Screen: Michael Kellman’s Path to Say Less
Q: When you look back years from now at making Say Less, what do you think the experience will represent in your life story?
I hope it stands as the first stepping stone in a career I'm proud of, and perhaps the hardest shoot I'll look back on which taught me resilience, resourcefulness, and the importance of making the next film with more support and experience behind me.
Ep 284: From Imagination to Screen: Michael Kellman’s Path to Say Less
Q: When you write a line like, I'm 17, of course I care what people think. Where exactly does that come from?
That line reflects a universal truth about adolescence—particularity rooted in shared teenage insecurities. It captures how urgent and naive those feelings can be, while still being funny and revealing a character's vulnerability in a relatable way.
Ep 284: From Imagination to Screen: Michael Kellman’s Path to Say Less
Q: What have you learned between doing this film and Say Less?
I've learned exponentially more about filmmaking with every project. Each new film sharpens my taste, decision-making, and ability to iterate quickly. Editing experience and working with actors taught me the importance of rehearsal and the value of keeping the process hands-on and iterative.
