  • The community I didn’t know I needed

I’ve been a commuting and touring cyclist for 15 years and worked in a shop. Thought I already knew what I needed about biking, but this podcast has been a great way to learn more and push my boundaries! I’ve especially appreciated all of the talk about women specific issues (pregnancy and post partum riding!), size inclusive brands, and “how to” topics. This podcast helped me find the courage and the trails to get into mountain biking, and do it at my own pace!

  • Worth the listen!

I love the practicality of her episodes. I have at least one takeaway from each podcast. I recently listened to the episode about how to build confidence as a rider. I implemented at least one of her tips today - ride alone and/or celebrate the accomplishments. On today’s ride I cleared some sections I hadn’t been able to previously. I celebrated by letting out a little “woohoo” to myself!

Your Biggest Fueling Questions, Answered | Uri Carlson
Q: Is eating lots of sugar on the bike healthy?
Under-fueling is more unhealthy than consuming needed sugar during rides; focus on total daily nutrition and ensure high-quality foods outside exercise to support fueling during workouts.

Hydration with electrolytes is crucial; consider liquid calories to meet carbohydrate needs when gut tolerance is lower, and use cooling strategies to reduce core temperature while maintaining overall intake.
Do These Things To Thrive On The Bike After 40 With Marissa Axell
Q: What does a coach mean by 'process goals' and how do you apply that with athletes to plan for races or hard training blocks?
Process goals are small, controllable steps sliced into thirds of the event, focusing on pacing, watts, or zones to keep the athlete focused and reduce nerves and self-doubt.
Do These Things To Thrive On The Bike After 40 With Marissa Axell
Q: So obviously we're all different and different things work for different people. But for you personally, what did you do that helped you move through that extreme fatigue you're experiencing?
