Reviews

4.8 out of 5 stars from 150 ratings
  • Clarity

FDD is by far the most important foreign policy think tank in DC. They are unapologetically honest and fair. Listening to one of their podcasts is like taking an hour long master class on the issues. None of the dog whistle antisemitism at the Heritage Foundation. None of the whitewashing of Qatari and Turkish meddling in American politics. Love this group.

Erdogan's neo-Ottoman ambitions | feat. Sinan Ciddi
Q: What are the most likely successors to Erdogan and what shapes that outcome?
Sinan outlines a memo focusing on Erdogan's son as a central contender, with other figures like Hakan Fidan and Barış Yılmaz as potential runners-up, but emphasizes Erdoğan's tight control over the process and the institutional support needed to ensure a transition that preserves his influence, suggesting the succession may be engineered to keep power within a trusted circle rather than a broad democratic turnover.
FDD Morning Brief SITREP | A wounded regime and the U.S.-Israel alliance
Q: All right, Jonatan, let's start with you. How do you see things playing out right now?
Jonatan outlines the succession dynamics around the Supreme Leader's circle, the IRGC's growing influence, and the potential for escalation rather than compromise, alongside the ongoing US-Israeli pressure campaign that aims to degrade Iran's repressive capacity while avoiding a broad internal backlash.
