This was fun! I hope you decide to cover TNG as well. The core characters are as clever, interesting and affable as any late 20th century TV detective and many of the episodes are fundamentally mysteries. (That said, series 1 is an uneven work-in-progress slog. Things do improve dramatically and are largely excellent from series 2 on.)
I started listening to Gerry and Iain’s commentary of Columbo and happily followed to their new show dissecting Star Trek.
If their next venture is the 80’s version of Mission Impossible it will complete the trifecta of shows I was forced to watch as a child. 🤣

Funny thing is I find myself enjoying this podcast despite not being a serious fan of Star Trek, and, in particular, not having seen the original show since it was on TV regularly in my childhood. I barely remember all but a few of the more-memorable episodes (bar a couple I watched on Netflix recently when I briefly had access to that service - it does make good lockdown 'comfort viewing' I find...maybe just because it's associated with my childhood, or maybe because, like the Sherlock Holm... more
