I’ve been listening to this podcast for a few years. John is knowledgeable about many places in Asia and he clearly enjoys sharing his experiences with others. While these are hard times for many of us, I have enjoyed getting a glimpse into what’s going on in Asia and how people are coping with the pandemic. I look forward to enjoying even more content once things open up again.

I have been listening to Saboe for a few years now. I found it after coming back from my own travels in SE Asia. It’s amazing how every episode brings you to that place. The thoughtful commentary on the culture, the sounds of the markets and the now with the covid updates. I can practically smell the fish sauce and motor bike exhaust. Its like having your own SE Asian correspondent on demand.

Been listening for years now. Thank you John from a fellow traveller!
Wonderful, informative and so enjoyable to listen to John’s podcasts on travel in South East Asia. It’s been the best escape from lockdown to listen to his travelogues, stories and news. Thank you.
This is one of my favorite podcasts. So much useful and interesting information, and this podcasts has given me lots of ideas on new places in East Asia I’d like to visit when it’s possible. It’s a fun listen and very helpful for travelers. Also, John Saboe is “boots on the ground” during this Covid-19 mess, and it’s been invaluable to hear inside information about what is happening there travel-wise.
I started listening to John's podcasts as I prepared for a trip from the States to Cambodia to visit my son, who is teaching in Phnom Penh for a year. Besides listening to the pods about Cambodia, I found myself drawn to all SE Asia-related pods, and even on trekking in Nepal and others.
I waited to write this review until after returning, to see how John's tips and orientation held up, and they surely did. I went in much more confidently and prepared, from dealing with SIM cards and tuk tu... more
