  • Informative and Entertaining

I really get a lot out of this podcast despite it being fairly short. The hosts mix a blend of humor and seriousness, and the guest each week gives a peek behind the curtain at the work of journalism.

It’s a great listen for anyone who cares about facts and what is best for the USA and world when it comes to energy.

  • Truly Insightful

I have worked in solar for many year. Sole continues to expand at a crazy pace and it is hard to keep up with the relevant developments. This podcast has helped me stay up to date and surveys as a pivotal jump off point for my own research. Keep up the great work! It is appreciated!

  • Makes keeping up with cleantech easy and digestible

I listen every week to get my right-sized amount of cleantech news, as the landscape can sometimes be a bit daunting to keep track of on my own. The guys have a great conversation flow and complement each other well in their approach to different issues. Highly recommend to anyone interested in the cleantech/renewables space. Looking forward to future episodes!

Stalled federal funding is freeing up to aid homeowners eyeing energy efficiency
Q: Can you talk a little about the other programs in addition to Home Energy Rebates, and how states differ in their approaches?
Kate outlines two main programs (Home Efficiency Rebates and Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates) and notes which states have both, with examples like Michigan and Colorado; emphasizes the importance of program stacking and state customization.

Q: Zoom out, give us a scope of the issue that we're talking about and what this timeline has looked like and where we're at on it right now.
Kate explains the history: funds from the Inflation Reduction Act were paused, DOE review is ongoing, and about a dozen states have launched programs while others have yet to deploy; oversight is substantial and timing remains uncertain.
Stalled federal funding is freeing up to aid homeowners eyeing energy efficiency
Q: Did you know there's an opportunity coming up to make your home more energy efficient, and the federal government might just foot most or all of the bill for repairs, upgrades, and even state of the art technology?
The host introduces the opportunity and Kate explains that $8.8 billion is allocated to State Energy Offices for rebates that cover a range of energy efficiency upgrades, with some states already launching programs while others wait for funds, and emphasizes the potential impact on affordability and grid costs.
This Week in Cleantech (06/04/2026) - Why are some Democratic governors backing Trump's gas pipelines?
Q: Has anything from these liberal governors been floated as exchange for opening up conversations about these pipelines?
Ben notes discussions around coupling pipeline talks with advancing clean-energy goals, but emphasizes the question of whether governors are asking for the most favorable deals (like offshore wind or transmission projects) in return for pipeline concessions.
