  • Tariffs report

Your not realizing the previous Brasil president was conservative and more on par with USA president trump at that time. Right or wrong. Now you went left in your last election and expect trump to still treat you like a brother. Your president isn’t pro American and has become close to china. That doesn’t work with trump or those that elected him. AIM to be more moderate and the tariffs will respond in kind. We love Brasil but not your government at this time.

  • Nice to have Brazilian news in English

Not much is available in English about current events in Brazil. As someone with family in Brazil, I like to keep up and appreciate this source of Brazilian news.

  • I've listened to this purchase for years as a casual listener. The quality of the podcast has seemed to diminish as they focus more on driving subscriptions. Several minutes of the most recent episode were drowned out by music louder than the person speaking.

  • Brazil - Love it or leave it.

As a gringo of over 10 years I enjoy this podcast. Really enjoyed the 4 part Brazil - Love it or leave it series. Would like to hear more on Brazil’s global political history and relationships with other nations. Always great to have politics in English even if I don’t agree with all the outlooks and views.

Self-serving politics
Q: Now talking about the Supreme Court, is it fair to say that the Supreme Court also sometimes invites these sorts of questions about its motives?
Yes, the Supreme Court's timing in investigations can fuel accusations of political bias, but it's important to consider institutional accountability.
Self-serving politics
Q: Mário, in recent days, we've seen the House moving to legislate very much in its own interests, seemingly unconcerned with how voters might react, despite the heavy scrutiny on social media.
Yes, the lower house was expected to connect more with the people's needs, but changes in campaign financing have made lawmakers more dependent on party leaders than constituents.
Who will be Brazil's next Supreme Court justice?
Q: What does Brazil lose with the gender imbalance on the Supreme Court?
The lack of diversity leads to a homogenous judicial perspective, limiting broader representation in decision-making.
Who will be Brazil's next Supreme Court justice?
Q: What could happen if solicitor-general Jorge Messias were to replace Justice Barroso?
Messias' appointment may shift the balance on rulings like abortion but could also symbolize an erosion of the Supreme Court's legitimacy.
Who will be Brazil's next Supreme Court justice?
Q: Does the academic background of justices translate into better performance at the Supreme Court?
While an academic background, such as that of Justice Barroso, indicates sophistication, it is not sufficient alone to ensure effective performance on the court.
