The “super fan” seems alright and genuinely can be quite funny at times. The other guy’s voice just GRATES on me. The constant effeminate, nasal whining just got too much for me. It’s confusing because he’s quite self-deprecating and has talked about no girls liking him in a few episodes yet he’s got a secondary school age daughter and a wife when he’s in his early thirties. Doesn’t really add up…
it's kind of interesting because luke makes a lot of points about tories writing the working class whilst themself embodying that sort of dynamic but as a blatantly middle class white aesthete commentating about what he sees as "low" culture. i can tell luke is really witty and well educated and ive been enjoying a lot of the things he says and i certainly don't have a personal attachment to WR but it really started rankling as soon as he took issue with inelegance of ahmed being called vindaloo... more
Another super fan here - actually, the one you mentioned in Ep1 who’s at the intersection of being a Classicist and a WR enthusiast - absolutely delighted that someone loved WR as much as me and made this podcast!
I always find it odd when I find a podcast about a show, but it seems like the hosts actively dislike the show from even the first episode.
I’m not even really a fan of the show, I think it can be quite silly a lot of the times,
But these guys seem to hate every episode!
Here for the “mild giggles” AND the use of crepuscular. And the weary realisation that they’re not even half way through yet, superb.

A humorous, in-depth examination of a long-running British school drama, blending episode-by-episode analysis with nostalgia and playful banter. The hosts dissect character arcs, story decisions, and tonal shifts, while weaving in fan emails, pop culture riffs, and behind-the-scenes production quirks. Episodes frequently touch on representation, trauma, and social issues within the show's universe, balanced with lighthearted banter and enthusiastic fandom moments. Noteworthy is the duo's chemistry—the contrast between exuberant optimism and cynical pragmatism—and the way they mix long-form critique with community engagement through Patreon-style fan input and listener correspondence.
