  • Absolutely fascinating!

What a great way to talk us through the history of anaesthesia. Very engaging episodes that make you want to find out more and more about the subject, whether you are in the medical profession or not. Wouldn’t be surprised if Ether/Or turns into a book or a tv show one day.

  • A fascinating and engaging presentation

Dr Heron is clearly a master of his topic. The podcast is underpinned by excellent research and includes insight from other expert practitioners in the field. The presentation is engaging, and for people like me who do not have a medical background, it is accessible. I learned a great deal and will certainly be looking out for Matthew’s next project!

  • not just historical curiosity

Dr Heron presents a fascinating, often overlooked history of something we can take for granted ("just knock me out, doc") - with good production values and a well defined scope. Linking to modern concepts of patient safety means this is not just historical trivia, but an explanation of the foundations of modern anaesthesia and peri-operative care.

Linking to modern concepts of patient safety brings this from historical trivia to illuminating the foundations of anaesthesia as the discipline it is today.
