Rights matter, but conversations about rights can be polarizing, confusing and frustrating. Lawyers and law professors Claudia Flores and Tom Ginsburg have traveled the world getting into the weeds of global human rights debates. On Entitled, they use that expertise to explore the stories and thorny questions around why rights matter and what’s the matter with rights. Entitled is produced with the... more

Really look forward to drops. Great for catching ideas from way outside my field
The first podcast compares American and European history together as not being old, vs that of Libya, and then uses that to explain the derivations of how we define human rights. I’m a bit confused why they did this. Europe is old, like really really old, and certainly shouldn’t be lumped in with the baby that is America (assuming we’re talking about the political factions that developed in these respected places). Much of modern law comes from Roman law, in fact. This is not to be exclusionary ... more
I’m disappointed that you platformed Francesca Albanese. She has nothing but contempt for Jews and her crusade against Israel is funded by Qatar and the other super moral oil states.
Is a shame this episode narrowly focuses on issues with Israel and washes the bloody hands of Iran and her band of Jew hating militants.
I was looking forward to the podcast and expected it to be a more nuanced view of balancing the rights and obligations of different parties from a legal perspective. The first few episodes were OK but it seems less balanced when dealing with really difficult issues like Gaza. Flores in particular seems to have strong opinions and Ginsburg pushes back a little occasionally, but it isn't the balanced discussion of tradeoffs I had hoped for.
Up or down are relative to the viewer- Professor Claudia Flores does a great job showing both sides of the coin to poke your thinking process and see things from different perspectives.
It is for sure a very difficult job she has. She keeps you entertained while exploring completely opposite points of views that might be “right”, “legal “, and “fair” to both sides.
Great job opening the different taboo boxes and sparking meaningful conversations. It is for sure, what our country, and perhaps ... more

Exploring human rights from a legal perspective, the discussions tend to focus on global implications and personal stories behind human rights issues, often critiquing government authority and discussing the balance between rights and national interests. Key topics include cases of civil liberties violations, the intersection of immigration policy and dissent, and the ongoing conflicts over international law in situations like the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The hosts, who are seasoned legal scholars, engage in thoughtful conversations that are both intellectually stimulating and accessible to listeners, prompting them to consider the complexities of rights in our current geopolitical landscape.
