  • Great content, would be better with less politics

I understand the target demographic and many hosts / guests likely lean to the left, and I appreciate the informative content nevertheless.

However, S&P Podcasts consistently and blatantly support democratic agendas and policies, and alienate the moderate majority and republicans.

Please do better about prompting guests with politicizing / hot button questions, and market the content to be more neutral or centrist. If we want bipartisan support for the energy evolution, stop marketing solely ... more

Explaining Germany's energy transition 'reality check'
Q: How would this affect Germany's climate targets?
The speaker indicates that while the net zero goals are serious, they may be overambitious given current plans to build new gas-fired power stations, which could complicate Germany's decarbonization efforts.
Explaining Germany's energy transition 'reality check'
Q: Why does the new government in Berlin need a reality check? What were some of the main conclusions from it?
The new government needs a reality check because the electricity demand forecast for 2030 is set at 750 TWh per year, which is deemed too high; the report suggests a more realistic range of 600 to 700 TWh.
How will the EU's new carbon market affect energy costs and inflation?
Q: What insights can you provide on the inflationary impact of EU ETS 2?
Research indicates that the increased costs could add substantial basis points to inflation, depending on how costs are passed through to consumers.
How will the EU's new carbon market affect energy costs and inflation?
Q: Do you still expect EU ETS 2 to launch as planned in 2027?
There are some missing pieces; while there is significant market anticipation, member states express reservations about implementation timelines and how the market will respond.
US coal production is back on the rise
Q: What are some of the policies that have caused problems for the sector since Donald Trump's second term?
Significant complications have arisen from trade tensions, particularly tariffs on coal imports from China, which have caused market uncertainty and reduced demand for US coal.
