  • Great content, would be better with less politics

I understand the target demographic and many hosts / guests likely lean to the left, and I appreciate the informative content nevertheless.

However, S&P Podcasts consistently and blatantly support democratic agendas and policies, and alienate the moderate majority and republicans.

Please do better about prompting guests with politicizing / hot button questions, and market the content to be more neutral or centrist. If we want bipartisan support for the energy evolution, stop marketing solely ... more

  • As a retail investor and trader…

This is information packed without a lot of political griping earmarking other energy podcasts (often triggering ad nausea switch away) never getting close to your production standards.

As a comedian, production standards are my lifeblood.

The quality of the information is as good as I have heard anywhere, and in the wrap, please keep ‘em coming, and I will listen.

Southern Company CEO Chris Womack on AI, power demand and affordability
Q: Where do you see emissions reduction fitting in with rising demand and price pressures?
Emissions reduction remains a priority alongside meeting demand; we must continue clean air and environmental stewardship while expanding generation and upgrading the grid to balance both goals.
Southern Company CEO Chris Womack on AI, power demand and affordability
Q: What is your view on the best utility structure for serving large loads in a market with high capacity costs, and how does a vertically integrated model compare to competitive markets?
A vertically integrated model reduces price volatility and provides certainty through coordinated generation, transmission, and distribution, enabling orderly growth that meets timelines and delivers benefits to all customers.
Southern Company CEO Chris Womack on AI, power demand and affordability
Q: How do you handle growth forecasts and the data-center load in your service territory, given revisions to Georgia Power's pipeline?
Forecasts are updated through a formal planning process every three years, with interim adjustments as needed to ensure resources align with customer needs and to avoid subsidizing other customer classes while still enabling data centers to participate as good community citizens.
Southern Company CEO Chris Womack on AI, power demand and affordability
Q: In late February, the Department of Energy granted a $26.5 billion loan package to Southern Company. How do you see that loan being deployed and how does it fit with your $81 billion capital plan?
The loan supports grid enhancement, new generation, and capacity upgrades aligned with our growth projects. It helps advance investments in transmission, grid reliability, and customer benefits over the life of the loan, contributing to rate stability and shared value for customers.
Political pressure mounts on Europe's flagship carbon policy
Q: Why has the EU ETS become such a political lightning rod right now?
Host asks about the drivers behind heightened political attention, and the guest explains that geopolitical shifts, notably in the Middle East, combined with technical design decisions (benchmark values, Phase 5 reforms, and the Market Stability Reserve) are shaping price expectations and rule-making discussions, creating volatility and urgency.
