  • Land here for a fun and informative aviation podcast!

Keep some of the Airventure spirit going during the long months away from Oshkosh. The green dot is one of my top three aviation podcasts. Highly professional in production values and varied in topics and guests.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

EAA’s The Green Dot — VAI President and CEO François Lassale
Q: How do you view the role of cargo versus passenger use in the early stages of AAM adoption?
He argues cargo is a practical starting point to build trust, test integration, and prove performance before expanding to moving people, aided by data-driven regulation and interoperability with existing airspace systems.
EAA’s The Green Dot — VAI President and CEO François Lassale
Q: Help me understand a little bit about your background and what brought you to lead VAI.
François Lassale outlines a global career across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the US, with extensive rotorcraft and fixed-wing experience, safety and training as throughlines, and leadership roles culminating in heading VAI to connect the vertical lift community.
EAA’s The Green Dot — Joby Aviation Test Pilot Zach Reeder
Q: What is the near-term plan for operations and certification in urban markets like Dubai and major U.S. cities?
Initial routes are focused on VFR airspace with significant attention to air traffic management, vertiport locations, and regulatory milestones; service would start in specific corridors with gradual scale-up and a 135-certificated framework to support pilot and crew operations.
EAA’s The Green Dot — Joby Aviation Test Pilot Zach Reeder
Q: What are the key advantages of powered lift operating in the urban environment compared with traditional helicopters?
The main advantages are lower noise levels, diffusion of noise rather than a high-pitched beating, zero local emissions, and the potential to reshape urban mobility with a fly-by-wire system that eases pilot workload while enabling urban routes.
EAA’s The Green Dot — Cape Air Assistant Chief Pilot Dave Zarrella
Q: What does the future look like for Cape Air?
Discussion of fleet plans, including transition from Cessna 402s to Tecnam P2012 Travelers, pilot pathways, and continued adaptability to serve regional routes.
