Two movie-obsessed buddies (Spike Alkire & Jake Kelley) pick a movie every week to cover at length and then each pairs the chosen film with yet another film. Three movie recommendations a week (and probably more). Our episodes are researched and we go pretty in-depth on the breakdowns. We love doing it, and we thank you for listening! Enjoy!

This week we cover the much-derided Paul Verhoeven classic, "Showgirls." Masterpiece? Shit? Masterpiece of shit? We cover this film from its early conception as an idea on Joe Eszterhas dirty cocktail napkin to its resurgence as a camp classic. After... more

Love the chemistry between Spike and Jake. And if you give the show time to grow on you, you will be richly rewarded. The boys clearly are very intelligent and well read, and particularly well versed in film. The show itself is a zany hodgepodge of high-brow and low-brow fare. Nowhere else on earth will you find in-depth reviews of films such as Aguirre, Salo, In the Realm of the Senses, Bicycle Thieves, and Jeanne Dielman alongside Love Actually (which they properly and hilariously pan), Home A... more
This podcast is great. Great sound quality and voices. The hosts have informed and smart takes on all the movies, but without pretense. Because of the Oscars, these are the movies that I’m thinking about right now. Also, thanks for teaching me about Ingrid Olderock because I was admittedly confused on my first watch of Bestia. I feel like I have two new friends!
I’m enjoying these. Great trivia in the stories and quite interesting.
