Q: Can you tell us a bit about the process of bringing these bags to life? Did you have the chance to meet with the Atelier in Paris, or did they come to visit you in your studio?

I did. I sent in a proposal and then was very fortunate to have the Dior team visit my studio with an incredible variety of possibilities for how my designs could be interpreted and different material processes that we could use.

Q: What draws you to the medium of painting?

I think the tactility of it and the immutability of it. And there's just a certain kind of suspense that I experience while working that I truly want to know what is going to happen.

Q: How exciting. Jessica, your work draws on cosmic and celestial forms, nature and deep introspection. What early influences helped shape this vision?

Yes, definitely. I was born in Brooklyn and grew up on Long Island, so very close to New York City. And my mom would often take us to the beach or show us things that were in her garden.

Q: Can you take us into your universe and describe the space? What kind of works are hanging around you?

Sure. At the moment, I have several small paintings in process that are exploring different celestial forms in vertical alignment, in various spaces that exist between them.
