  • Became a favorite quickly

This podcast quickly contain a favorite for me after just a few episodes. I’m now trying to make my way through The entire series. This is also one of my rare podcast favorites for which I will likely listen to certain episodes multiple times. I like the fact that the host Steve and his different guests, will discuss a very wide range of movies in different genres. And the clever way they choose which movie is they literally roll a die, and that chooses which genre and then they choose a movie i... more

  • The Hardest Working Man in Podcasting!

What started as a movie review podcast has grown to include amazing celebrity interviews and a sub-cast (?) called Hammerama. Listen to one interview with Mr. Turek and you’ll be amazed how he connects with his guests. He seems to surprise even them with his in-depth knowledge of their careers. Terrific!

  • A Welcome And Important Resource For Film Fans!

What started out as a great and heartwarming podcast with Steven and his kids, Ben and Michaela, has grown into a polished, well researched and welcome addition to the film review community at large and the Monster Kid community as well.

Steven's interviews with the stars and creators of yesteryear and more recent films, are important, as we need to get their stories captured and told to a new audience.

Highly recommended podcast for film buffs of all ages and genres!

  • The Turek Family Joins The Podcast Community

Mr. Steve Turek, familiar voice from Monster Kid Radio and The Classic Horrors Club Podcast, has officially joined the podcast community along with his son Ben and daughter Mikaela. Steve knows his movies and now we get to hear from his children and their varying opinions. The format is unique, offering a variety of films chosen by a roll of the die. Awesome start and I look forward to more!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

415 The Horse Whisperer (1998) - Robert Redford Retrospective Part 7 w/Kevin Slick
Q: What makes The Horse Whisperer work as a multi-threaded story rather than a straightforward romance?
The conversation concludes that the strength lies in how Annie's personal transformation, Grace's recovery, and Tom Booker's healing methods interlace to form a cohesive arc, with each thread supporting the others and none dominating entirely.
414 Stake Land (2010) w/Doc Dread
Q: And what have you been up to on your show?
Doc Dread shares his hosting duties on the Monster Channel and Cemetery Cinema, giving context to his horror credentials and the crossover between his projects and the DieCast Movie Podcast.
406 Bone Face (2025) w/Michael Donovan Horn & Scott Plissken
Q: What was it like directing a cast that included so many experienced actors?
It was a collaborative, iterative process where pre-teens and improvisation on set were encouraged, allowing performers to bring their own strengths while the director maintained a clear vision; the result was natural chemistry and memorable character moments.
408 Chimes at Midnight (1965) w/Joshua Kennedy
Q: How did you first react to Chimes at Midnight, and why did you choose it for the episode?
I was struck by how it blends Shakespeare with Orson Welles's audacious filmmaking, making a 'Falstaff movie' that transcends traditional adaptations. The production history, the budget constraints, and the way the editing creates scale without massive numbers of extras all contributed to a compelling discussion.
388 King Kong (1933) w/Frank Dello Stritto
Q: How do you view Kong's portrayal in terms of race and colonialism?
The guest argues that the film isn't inherently racist but reflects the era's colonial mindset; the blame is more on the imperial explorers than on the islanders, and the portrayal can be interpreted through multiple lenses including a critique of colonizers rather than a condemnation of the islanders.
