I used to be excited to listen to an episode right after watching the corresponding Hallmark movie. In that way, this podcast was sort of an extension of the fun of watching ridiculous Hallmark movies. Bran & Brian (and previously Pandolph) are all so much fun, and even Dan was good, although a little obnoxious for constantly correcting everyone. I’ve listened to Deck the Hallmark for years, and what originally made the show great was how unserious it was. It felt like a bunch of funny guys hanging out, making dumb jokes, talking movies, and fully embracing the absurdity of the whole thing. That self-awareness is what made it so entertaining.
Lately though, specifically Marvel Mondays, feels like it’s trying way too hard to become a serious movie-analysis podcast, and it’s lost a lot of the fun because of it.
