Achieving the Vogue Dream and Starting the IT Girl Movement with Olivia Bossert
Q: What's next after achieving such a milestone?
The next phase is a pivot toward branded photography for a broader range of clients, expanding into my art and painting, and growing It Girl-focused shoots as a core service, with a focus on immersive, high-end experiences.
Achieving the Vogue Dream and Starting the IT Girl Movement with Olivia Bossert
Q: What was the moment you first felt you were truly legit as a photographer after Vogue?
For me, it wasn't about the publication alone but whether my images helped brands sell what they were selling. If yes, that felt like legitimacy, while for art-focused work, it was about personal fulfillment and having fun.
Achieving the Vogue Dream and Starting the IT Girl Movement with Olivia Bossert
Q: Did you set your goal to work with Vogue, or did you decide you would shoot for Vogue and prove it to everyone?
I set a clear, time-bound goal to shoot Vogue and then leveraged every skill I had built—from production to creative direction—to pitch and land Vogue Portugal. It happened fast after I decided, but I also acknowledge the growth and preparation that made it possible.
How Filmmakers Can Take Back Control of Their Work With Jerry J White III
Q: What advice would you give to new filmmakers about money and independence?
Focus on small, achievable projects, leverage collaboration, barter where possible, and build an audience first. Money will come from multiple streams over time if you stay consistent and transparent.
How Filmmakers Can Take Back Control of Their Work With Jerry J White III
Q: How did you pivot from traditional distribution to DIY and teaching others?
After realizing traditional deals could be expensive and non-transparent, I shifted to teaching through YouTube and a transparent collective system, showing techniques and sharing failures to help others learn.
