  • Incredibly wide-ranging and informative

I can’t recommend this podcast highly enough to photographers at all stages of their commercial / editorial career - especially those of us who are just trying to break in. Heather Elder’s deep knowledge of the business doesn’t keep her from asking the basic questions we all would love to know, and it’s still very informative for those who have been on the inside for much longer. I’m learning so much from each interview! Hope it continues!

119: Hannah Wolfert and Kim Roemer
Q: How do you collaborate with producers to ensure budgets align with usage rights?
I generally step in once the licensing discussion is mostly worked out, but it's important to account for varying platforms and types of usage.
119: Hannah Wolfert and Kim Roemer
Q: What changes are you seeing at your agency?
AI is a big topic along with the integration of new digital platforms in projects.
119: Hannah Wolfert and Kim Roemer
Q: Kim, what are the biggest misunderstandings or assumptions people have about business affairs?
There's not many people in business affairs that I know of, since I've been the first in my company, but I definitely love the role.
116: Jessica Mirolla, Freelance Senior Producer
Q: What do you think would be helpful for photographers and reps to understand better about your job?
I just want everyone to know that I'm always thinking 360. I'm thinking about every aspect and not just the production. I'm trying to anticipate needs and I'm carefully listening to every single person, the photographer, my team, my clients.
116: Jessica Mirolla, Freelance Senior Producer
Q: Now, tell me a little bit about your role as an art producer. I'm sure it's changed a lot over the years, but explain it.
It’s definitely changed a lot. I've been freelancing for the last few years, and I'm covering all aspects of production, which you sort of segued into. Video stills, digital content, broadcast, and I got into filmmaking, as you mentioned.
