  • Insightful

Plenty of health IT podcasts out there, but this is the only one to engage the audience with high-caliber storytelling, which is sorely needed in this data-driven industry. The hosts do a great job offering valuable insights from history and offering commentary on current events. Plus the interviews are usually legitimate leaders in the space. 5 stars.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

S1 Ep5: Changes: Mary Mayhew, CEO of the Florida Hospital Association
Q: What are the biggest challenges facing Florida hospitals today?
The guest highlights capacity pressures with high occupancy, aging demographics driving demand, and financial headwinds from federal policy shifts like HR1 and Medicaid reforms, all of which threaten access and stability unless there is targeted investment and smarter utilization.
S1 Ep4: Changes: Aspirus Health CEO Matt Heywood
Q: A lot of people are looking at AI to help deal with changes—how do you approach AI and why might it not be a panacea?
We view AI as a two-tranche tool: first, enabling technology with known ROI to fix real problems today, especially in back-office processes like RevCycle; second, a longer-term transformative potential that requires careful, structured planning. We avoid broad pilots without ROI, and instead concentrate AI where it can deliver clear value, while maintaining rigorous evaluation and a pragmatic pace.
S1 Ep3: Changes: Hartford HealthCare CEO Jeff Flaks talks about AI
Q: You mentioned the goal of being the most consumer-centric organization. What are the keys in your mind to making it to that goal?
Focus on navigation, built-in AI support, and a holistic approach to care that treats patients as partners. The goal is not just access, but an ongoing relationship with trust and proactive support.
S2 Ep10: Healthy Bottom Line: Engaging patients where they are, in ways they want
Q: What's the advice that you would give healthcare leaders in terms of reaching people more effectively?
Stay focused on creating value for your clients and adapting to changes as necessary.
S2 Ep10: Healthy Bottom Line: Engaging patients where they are, in ways they want
Q: How is AI really changing the game in terms of outreach?
AI is gaining traction in the administrative side of healthcare, particularly with revenue cycle management, though the clinical side is approached more cautiously.
