Über vier Jahrzehnte beschäftigte sich Sergej Prokofjew mit der Gattung der Klaviersonate. Die siebte Sonate genießt unter Pianisten den höchsten Ruf. BR Klassik stellt das Stück zusammen mit dem Pianisten Bernd Glemser vor.
Bachs Dritte Orchestersuite in D-Dur ist neben Streichern mit Oboen, Trompeten und Pauken besetzt. Auf eine französische Ouvertüre folgen stilisierte Tänze - eine ebenso repräsentative wie unterhaltsame Musik.
Goethe hatte den Wunsch, dass seine Ballade "Die erste Walpurgisnacht" vertont werden möge. Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy konnte die Idee verwirklichen. BR-KLASSIK präsentiert das Werk gemeinsam mit der Mezzosopranistin Lioba Braun.
Gerne hat der englische Komponist Ralph Vaughan Williams die Vögel belauscht. Vor allem die Lerche, der er 15 Minuten hochvirtuose Klänge widmete. BR Klassik stellt das Werk zusammen mit der Geigerin Janine Jansen vor.

Immer wieder staune ich, dass bei den Machern des Podcasts ‚das starke Stück‘ offensichtlich noch nicht angekommen ist, dass es hoch professionelle Spezialistinnen und Spezialisten für Musik des 18. Jahrhunderts gibt. Die spielen z.B. Bachs Inventionen nicht auf einem modernen Flügel und wissen mindestens, wie man damals einen Triller machte. Ich gebe trotzdem 3 Sterne, da einzelne Beiträge zum 19. und 20. Jahrhundert hervorragend sind.
