This show at its core is very interesting however there were so many moving parts that they wanted to add that it just didn’t work. With so many things going on at once, without explanation, of made it very confusing. After listening to the full thing I was left with so many questions still & the ending was very disappointing. It’s very much an enjoyable listen but don’t be surprised when it feels like you’ve missed something because so much is going on at once.
Seems like a great plot and set of characters but this is not an acted-out Audio/Radio drama, it’s basically just an audiobook. And audiobooks are my least favourite type of medium — I much prefer real books or radio drama formats (yes there’s a difference, dramas have real acting with real environment noises and are only occasionally interspersed with narrating), this is just the main character reading out a story. If audiobooks are your thing then stay tuned as it seems like a good story.
This show is by far the best podcast I have ever come across and I have now listened through twice. I wish every podcast was voiced by Dion Graham, who plays Gabriel Majeaux, because his voice is so smooth and calming.
I am looking at least once a week since I finished the first time, desperately awaiting season 3.
Thank you CD Miller for this masterpiece and I cannot wait to see where you take these beloved characters next!
I am enjoying the show overall. However I have no idea what is really happening…. There are A LOT of characters to keep track of and it seems each new episode is from yet another person’s perspective so I started to get more lost as to what is happening as the story progressed. I still don’t know why one guy (I’ll be damned if I can remember his name) keeps mentioning werewolves…? I’m hoping the next season will give more answers rather than questions.
The story is well thought out and interesting, but the female characters and their experiences are poorly written and reflect classic male gaze tropes: a heroine who’s gorgeous but doesn’t know it experiences violence at the hands of another man as soon as the show starts, then calls another man and begs him to save her. This quality is especially noticeable in details describing women’s appearance and dress, which are boringly moralizing (when the heroine is assaulted, she’s wearing a “too shor... more
