Half stoic war epic and half frustrating courtroom melodrama, this early Kubrick film proved unassumingly controversial upon its release in comparison with the auteur’s later works.

  • Excellent

Very good, in-depth look at war movies. Much more than a scene by scene breakdown of a film, but an objective discussion about the film, the production, the themes and objectives of each film relative to the subject matter and the environment they were made in, and made to represent.

I look forward to each episode after binging the exisiting episode library.

  • The Definitive War Movie Podcast!

If you like war movies, this is definitely the place to be! I love the dynamic backgrounds from the hosts that all come to the films from a different perspective, but they are all related to the material discussed: a film critic, a military veteran, and a theater actor and director. So, you really get a great mix of from different areas of expertise. Absolutely worth checking out!

Reports from the Front: Fourteen Hours in Husaybah
Q: Do you have any advice for veterans out there, maybe younger guys who are just getting out?
Make sure you're getting the benefits that you deserve through the VA. It's important to find camaraderie again, whether through veterans organizations in college or in law enforcement, and to stay connected.
Black Hawk Down (2001)
Q: Do you guys feel this movie would have been different if it had been made two years later?
It would have been nigh unwatchable if it were made two years later.
BONUS INTERVIEW - Pulled the Handle! Just Not Very Hard. Part 2 of 2
Q: What would you say to young kids and their parents who are thinking about joining the military?
Find out what their goal is, whether it's college, a career, or something else. The military matures young people quickly, teaching them teamwork and discipline.
Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
Q: Do you think this is an accurate portrayal of Lawrence?
While the character portrayed by Peter O'Toole feels like a lived-in character, the movie has largely defined how Lawrence is viewed, which might not entirely align with historical accuracy.
