孩子從幼兒園進入小學，是人生第一個重要的學習轉換期。許多家長會發現，孩子在幼兒園表現很好，但上了小學後卻出現坐不住、愛說話、分心或情緒容易爆發等情況。廖笙光老師指出，這往往不一定是注意力問題，而是學習型態、作息與環境改變帶來的適應落差。
幼兒園多以示範與帶領為主，小學則以口語指令和較長時間的課堂學習為主，加上上學時間變早、規則更明確，都可能讓孩子一時難以適應。孩子坐不住的原因也很多，例如核心肌肉力量不足、等待能力較弱，或課程太簡單、太困難，都可能造成分心行為。
