  • So wonderful to have a sit down over a cup of coffee

I had the pleasure to interact with Kent and Shannon in person once, I carved a poor excuse of the Beag for them then met up at an event. They are exactly what you expect and this podcast illustrates the kind, warm people they are. Everyone needs a place in this life to take a pause, this is a great spot for it. Humor, information, insight, and Christian values, it’s a one stop shop to get a restart on your day.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Real Old West Was Nothing Like the Movies (ft. Arizona Ghost Riders)
Q: How accurate are Westerns when depicting doctors and medical care on the frontier?
There were trained doctors who understood antiseptics and surgery, and some, like Dr. George Goodfellow, had higher survival rates; the real history is more nuanced than the common 'barbaric frontier medicine' trope.
The Real Old West Was Nothing Like the Movies (ft. Arizona Ghost Riders)
Q: What Hollywood myth about the Old West shocks people the most when told the truth?
The idea of a lone, super-fast gunfighter roaming from town to town is largely a Hollywood construct; most gunfights were closer-range, less glamorous, and involved complex social dynamics rather to set up a perpetual hero.
When Cancer Takes Everything but Hope - Cooking for Give Kids the World
Q: What is the largest catering that you have ever done?
The largest was for 750 people for the Give Kids the World Foundation, across multiple meals during a fundraising event.
When Cancer Takes Everything but Hope - Cooking for Give Kids the World
Q: What are some tips for large group or cooking for a crowd?
Plan your menu around things you're comfortable with cooking that can be made ahead of time, and control serving portions to avoid waste.
SNEAK PEEK: What is the HARDEST Thing about Being a Chuck Wagon Cook?
Q: What, Kent, would you say is the hardest thing about being a chuckwagon cook?
Kent responds that the hardest thing is dealing with the unpredictable forces of Mother Nature and the extreme weather conditions they face while cooking outdoors.
