  • Long time listener; the show is amazing

Chris and Mike and now just Mike brought/bring so much to this show.

They spotted docker way before it was cool and interviewed the team behind the project.

Throughout the years they’ve had awesome interviews, great banter, Jar-Jar guest appearances, it’s just such a good show.

The back catalog is great for understanding what’s going on in the world and how it will affect both tech workers and the companies they work for.

    7/5 stars.

  • Smarter than me

I consider myself to be pretty intelligent, listening to a wide variety of podcasts and reading lots of books. But I appreciate being able to listen to two people who are definitely smarter than me.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

648: System76's Britain Heaphy
Q: Is it possible to add a second power supply to Mira later, or is that fixed in the design?
Yes, there is an adapter bracket and a jumper cable to connect the two supplies, allowing a second power supply to be added without a full redesign.
648: System76's Britain Heaphy
Q: What exactly does a mechanical engineer do on your average Tuesday?
They run CAD modeling and prototyping on the factory floor, coordinate with production to meet design needs, and iterate on hardware concepts using rapid prototyping tools like 3D printers.
644: Bryan Hyland on Open-Source
Q: What was the onboarding experience like for Libcosmic and how did you get started?
Getting in at the ground level made it easier since there wasn't heavy QA against me yet. I read a lot of code, used the examples in the repo, and gradually built up core components while learning the project structure.
644: Bryan Hyland on Open-Source
Q: What attracted you to Rust and how did you approach learning it?
I taught myself C++ first for a challenge, then turned to Rust because I saw it potentially replacing C++ for systems work. I embraced the borrow checker and dedicated myself to learning it, which ultimately improved my programming discipline and code quality.
645: Warp's Holmes & Llyod
Q: Ben, what is the minimum expertise someone needs to be effective with Oz?
The minimum skill is relatively low; many powerful automations come from non-engineers. You can define environments, set up skills, and gradually add authentication and more complex workflows as you scale, with the option to start simple and grow.
