  • Great show and great guests!

Only started listening to the show two months ago, but love it. I knew who Richard Guido was way back in the Performance years forums days. I also have a GTO not quite as fast, but looks very similar to the way Bill’s car is with dog dish Hubcaps etc. it runs 11s and AutoX the car too. I run a TKX but have fought clutch problems since putting the car together. Very intrigued by both of your methods for getting the car off the line. Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Clutch Burners podcast Ep 52- Pat & Matt from Ram Clutches
Q: What has been the biggest technology change to move the sport forward?
They both agreed that data and data-driven decision making have driven the biggest advances, enabling better ignition, boost control, clutches, and transmissions by understanding how everything interacts and managing power more precisely.
Clutch Burners podcast Ep 52- Pat & Matt from Ram Clutches
Q: What is the first car Pat or Matt owned or modified?
Pat: a 1986 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, mostly stock with limited modifications. Matt: a 1971 Mach 1 with a Windsor motor and a habit of lifting the rear with shackles, which sparked his early interest in performance builds.
Clutch Burners podcast ep.49- Joel Grannas
Q: How does Joel approach starting line routines and clutch control?
He uses a mix of line-lock brake pressure management and a shaft-mounted, six-lever lockup system to optimize launch while maintaining traction, including a pushbutton override to control two-step behavior.
Clutch Burners podcast ep.49- Joel Grannas
Q: Why did Joel move from the V160 to Tremec gearboxes?
The V160 center case split under higher horsepower, and parts were discontinued; Tremec Magnum platforms offered a more reliable path to higher power and longer parts life, especially with a growing aftermarket ecosystem.
Clutch Burners podcast ep.49- Joel Grannas
Q: What does Joel consider the biggest technology change in the sport?
Turbocharger technology and associated wheel designs have accelerated power dramatically on smaller displacement engines, enabling much higher horsepower than a decade ago.
