I would give this plan and ESV version 5 stars. Robert’s voice would’ve a 5 star as well. It has character and pleasing to the ear. His pronunciation of some things leaves much to be desired though. This is my 3rd year in a row listening through this particular plan. The way he pronounces some words used to really bug me. Yes, some of the names are super hard to pronounce, but they could have trained him better. But basic words like “boundary,” he turns it into “boun-dairy”. It about drives me b... more
I love listening to this every day! Robert Smith has an engaging and comforting voice to listen to. It makes you feel as if your grandfather is telling you an old story from his youth. You really feel present with him as he’s reading.

Fan of the podcast…is there a place where there’s a printout list of the readings, in case we fall behind and the podcast episode is gone, so we can see what the reading was?
I really appreciate this chronological reading. It’s reliable and helps me meet my goals of focusing on the Bible when life is crazy.
I really appreciate that he added the chapter numbers back into the audio starting in March to help us to keep track of what we’re listening to and put it to better remember where things are.

This program guides listeners through Scripture in chronological order, read aloud by a single host whose steady narration anchors a year-long journey across historical, prophetic, and poetic books. Episodes commonly center on Deuteronomy and Numbers readings, with frequent emphasis on justice, social responsibility, ritual law, and the covenantal relationship between God and Israel. A notable strength is the consistent, clear delivery that helps busy listeners follow along and stay on track, often tying passages to practical themes like mercy, obedience, and community ethics. A recurring feature is maintaining a structured reading plan (including chapter cues) that supports goal-driven, daily engagement with the Bible.
