  • SEBTS podcast

This podcast is ok. I love SEBTS and I started listening to this podcast when I saw they had Daniel Darling as a guest. I was sadly disappointed. I’ve heard him on other pods and I just feel that while the interviewer is doing a good job, he could do better. Some of my questions about specific topics aren’t answered and that’s a very good way to judge the quality of an interview. Maybe it’s just me but it’s just kinda meh.

  • Excellent perspective, especially on public education

I appreciate this podcast, particularly your thoughts on K-12 education. Many Christian platforms focus on the negative side of public schools and subtly look down on parents whose kids are in public schools. God has called our family to be active and spread His light in our local public schools, and I’m thankful this podcast supports families like mine. I pray this podcast inspires others to volunteer in or enroll their children in public schools, showing compassion and spreading His love to th... more

  • Informative and Balanced

This podcast was a breath of fresh air. I was apprehensive at first that being a Southern Baptist seminary this podcast would be preachy, overly conservative, and only include their people (tribe) as guest. I could not have been more wrong. They have engaged guests and professors from varying backgrounds. The conversations have been balanced, informative, and challenging. Dr Keathley, Dr Quinn, and Nate are great hosts.

  • God centered conversations

This is what is needed. Easy to listen to with emphasis on being God-centered. If I was to be picky, I would say the only downfall is Scripture is not read often. However, just my opinion. This no star is deducted because God is mentioned in every facet of the podcast! Well done!

Exercise for the Good of Your Soul (with David Mathis) – EP 247
Q: What practical advice do you give pastors about starting or maintaining an exercise habit?

Exercise for the Good of Your Soul (with David Mathis) – EP 247
Q: What warnings do you give about exercise becoming an idol?
There are dual temptations: sedentary life and vain body image, with risks of vanity driven by social media; the goal is a Christ-centered, joyful use of the body rather than self-glorification.
Exercise for the Good of Your Soul (with David Mathis) – EP 247
Q: How does exercise relate to the will and everyday ministry?
Regular, disciplined movement strengthens the will, which then translates into resilience in parenting, preaching, and general ministry over the long term; it helps sustain energy and focus for ministry tasks.
Exercise for the Good of Your Soul (with David Mathis) – EP 247
Q: Why should Christians think about exercise at all?
Because exercise can serve as an assistant to the means of grace, strengthening the will and enabling a longer, more energetic life in service to God and others; it also connects physical training with spiritual disciplines like prayer and gratitude.
When Life Feels Absurd (with Josh Chatraw) – EP 244
Q: How does the idea of childlikeness inform our understanding of control and the Christian life?
Childlikeness is presented as a corrective to control and achievement culture, emphasizing reception, relationship, trust, and dependence on God as foundations for a flourishing Christian life.
