  • Great back catalogue, now only snippets

This used to be one of the great China commentary podcasts (and the back catalogue still is). The combination of humour with the geopolitics of China and interesting guests is a perfect match to explore the behaviour of one of the pivotal actors in the world today.

It is sad that the show chose to became paywalled. I understand the rationale for the decision, but in the current media environment, where every single producer has their own paywall, be it an in-house solution like China Unscripte... more

  • Too propogandistic

Some good reporting, but the knee jerk reaction to everything the PRC government and CCP do is simplistic. No system is totally bad or good. Just as it’s false to claim that everything in China is good, ignoring the positives in Communist China means that when this podcast legitimately criticises things, it doesn’t have a lot of credibility. This, after all, is just the reverse of what it accuses the Chinese press of doing.

  • Good but could be better

Gets a little rambly sometimes, but overall informative and entertaining. Best when they interview people. Chris is funnier when he writes jokes into the script, i.e. China Uncensored.

  • Excellent Show with Chris Patten

Well done! A very incisive interview that was news-making in its own right. Questions were insightful without overwhelming Lord Patten’s fascinating first-hand narrative. Thank you.
