The Cathartic Craft of Filmmaking with Director Drew Vaughan
Q: Is there any piece of advice you'd give to younger filmmakers just getting started?
Stop caring what people think and just create. Make something and then make another thing; the important part is to keep creating.
Documentary Filmmaking with Cinematographer/Director, Xavier Cunilleras
Q: Was it already fully funded by Netflix when you were attached to the project?
No, we had to pitch our idea and do a proof of concept before it was funded by Netflix.
Documentary Filmmaking with Cinematographer/Director, Xavier Cunilleras
Q: How did you get involved in the film?
I was hired by a producer who thought I would be a great fit for the documentary about nature and butterflies.
Music Videos and Collaborative Filmmaking with Cinematographer/Director, Johnny Valencia
Q: So that brings us up to around 2017 after Shape of You. Can you talk about the experience making the Kesha and Macklemore Good Old Days video?
It was the first time I directed one of their videos that was at a bigger scale, and it was a lot of fun working with both Ben and Kesha.
Music Videos and Collaborative Filmmaking with Cinematographer/Director, Johnny Valencia
Q: I wanted to ask you about the Seattle crew that you're a part of, kind of like where it all started?
That is kind of how I got started in filmmaking. I separately knew both Ryan Lewis and Jason Konig before things got rolling.
