Whether it’s for episode by episode reviews of historical cdrama series with historical and cultural references or short takes on movies and trends, this duo is outstanding. I’ve learned how The Longest Day in Chang A reflects history and its novel as well as creative license taken to enhance the drama. I MUST listen to all their episodes. There is no better podcast for appreciating the best of Chinese dramas. Plus NO ads interruptions, tho’ I’ve found Jubao TV, and watch ww/iOS on Sling
There is so much information that I can enjoy one podcast for months rewatching the drama over and over until I understand every detail in the podcast. This has changed my life and I am so grateful for the hard work put into the analysis. All done in a format with authentic personality that never gets boring or annoying.

Not only am I also obsessed with Ming Lan, I’m obsessed with Chasing Dramas!! I’ve learned soooo much about Chinese history and this podcast has made it much easier for me (an only English speaker 😭) follow... more
I have learned so much about Chinese culture since finding this podcast - it has taken my enjoyment of C-dramas to the next level, as I can finally understand a lot of the cultural context I was missing out on before.
Thank you both for this addictive and fun podcast! Your work to research and share your findings is so appreciated!!

Two hosts dissect Chinese historical dramas and culture-rich storytelling in English, with occasional Mandarin terms, offering episode-by-episode analysis of cultural references, history, and context. Recurring strengths include clear historical explanations, cultural notes, and a knack for connecting on-screen events to broader Chinese history and pop culture, making complex references accessible to Western listeners. The show often covers live-action adaptations, period details, and behind-the-scenes industry chatter, occasionally weaving in travel updates and media coverage to frame the conversation. A notable edge is their ability to translate and contextualize Mandarin terms for an English-speaking audience while maintaining engaging, ... more
