  • Adams via a gay perspective

I’ll give kudos to the hosts for actually being movie buffs. And the conceit of going through all of her works is brilliant since she is likely my favorite actress.

I think my problem is that you guys take away too long to start the show. We don’t need to hear the meandering bantering.

The bigger thing is that you view Adams’ career through a gay perspective, since obviously, both of you are gay. And as a heterosexual man, it just throws off the enjoyment of the podcast. Also, Adams being one ... more

  • Delightful

I’ve listened to both Dane and Louis on screendrafts and love their energy. I’m not , not, an Amy Adams fan, but I normally wouldn’t seek out a pod just about her work ( which is great), but I find this to be a fun listen to help get me through my work day . Such a delight!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Shout (Chasing Gwyneth Paltrow: Season Premiere)
Q: Is Gwyneth Paltrow's Shout performance a movie star performance or an actress performance?
Dane argues it's an actress performance due to naturalism and screen presence, while Louis contends it's a movie star performance because of star power and radiance, and they acknowledge there isn't always a clean split.
Nightbitch with Sonia Saraiya (Chasing Amy Adams: Episode 50)
Q: Should Amy Adams have won an Oscar for Nightbitch at the 97th Academy Awards?
The panel largely argues against a win for Nightbitch, with some acknowledging the performance was deserving while the film's reception and category alignment made a win unlikely; some debate supports a nomination instead.
Nightbitch with Sonia Saraiya (Chasing Amy Adams: Episode 50)
Q: Was Nightbitch a good career choice for Amy Adams in 2024, in retrospect?
The hosts acknowledge Adams' fearless performance and discuss the film's flaws and marketing challenges, ultimately agreeing it was a brave but imperfect pick that still contributed to her varied, boundary-pushing filmography.
Nightbitch with Sonia Saraiya (Chasing Amy Adams: Episode 50)
Q: Sonia, what kind of dog would you be if you turned into one for the Nightbitch scenario?
Sonia suggests several options, including elegant yet feral breeds like borzois and a feisty small dog, illustrating how the character's dual identity could be explored through mood, energy, and temperament rather than literal transformation.
Dear Evan Hansen with Kevin T. Porter (Chasing Amy Adams: Episode 48)
Q: Was Dear Evan Hansen a good career choice for Amy Adams in 2021?
They describe it as a mixed bag: a safe, high-profile project with exposure and singing opportunities during a turbulent time, but retrospectively it's seen as a missed opportunity to showcase stronger musical roles given Adams's range.
