  • Great Storytelling and FUN!

While driving my preteen sons around, we have listened to every episode. Not surprisingly, my sons love all the bathroom humor as well as all the aviation knowledge that Kevin and Mindy impart. Wonderful podcast hosts, great storytelling, keep up the great work. This is a fun podcast that is just a delight to listen to.

  • Laid back, funny, educational

I really like listening to this podcast because a lot of times aviation podcasts can be very serious. It's great to see a side of piloting that is more casual and funny, but still providing opportunities to learn. The things you learn may be things like: make sure you bring barf bags or wag bags on the plane 😂, rather than disecting a grim accident report. The relatively short episode format is also appreciated, it never feels like a slog.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#43 - Our Plane Wouldn’t Start, Gas Station Lunch Break, Water In The Fuel Tank, Career Change Question
Q: What is the best strategy to get through pilot training quickly while balancing a real job and family commitments?
Focus on completing the ground knowledge and written tests early, consider fast-track options, and plan to fly more frequently (3-4 times a week) to reduce total training time without sacrificing safety.
#41 - Left Seat In The Brand New Vision Jet, Turbulence Down Under, 'The Rock' Drank 6 Coronas And No Bathroom.
Q: How do you actually make your go-no-go decisions before a flight?
A mix of formal tools (FRAAT) and personal envelope assessment develops with experience; paid flights push toward trying to make things work, but safety outs and realistic aircraft limitations ultimately guide the decision.
#38 - Sonic Boom Scares, 1600 Foot Runway On Checkride, How To Get Into Aircraft Sales
Q: What advice would you have for someone looking to get into aircraft sales or other business roles in aviation?
Networking is essential; attend industry events like NBAA, leverage manufacturer experience, and be prepared for a non-linear path that favors hands-on credentials, relationships, and luck. Entry can come through manufacturers or brokerages, but there's no single step-by-step route—it's about building the right mix of experience and connections.
#26 - Pee Piddle Packs, Clapped Out Cessnas, Should He Keep His Wings?
Q: What advice do you have for someone struggling to stay proficient flying while balancing work and family?
Schedule regular flights with an instructor and immerse yourself in aviation through videos and literature to stay sharp.
#23 - Family Jewels Stuck Upside Down, Not Supporting Husband to be Pilot, Near Death in a C17
Q: Am I the asshole for not supporting husband's dream of becoming a pilot?
The husband feels driven and motivated to pursue aviation, while the wife is concerned about the financial implications and practicality of attending flight school.
