My taste mainly Venn diagrams with indie basement - but I like to keep a pulse on hardcore, emo, metal and hip hop, and even though I’m not big on mainstream pop I still like to hear the gossip and festival news.
I personally value the tri-state area music coverage point of view, but you don’t need to be a Brooklynite (or a vegan) to appreciate the NYC specificity.
Lastly I like the presentation. It’s really well produced, the audio is great, Dave, Andrew, Bill and Amanda are endearing and un... more
Definitely put me on a lot of new artists from multiples different genres. Most shows I go to are in NY so hearing from locals on shows means more.

Great music podcast! Love the deep dives in music news and all the albums. It's great to hear from people that actually know what they're talking about.
Truly the best music podcast out there. Covers lots of interesting topics and recommends tons of good bands!

BV Weekly offers a brisk, opinionated take on indie rock, punk, metal, and related scenes, mixing week-in-review music news with new album recommendations and deep dives into classic records. Across episodes, the show balances timely festival chatter, live-show reminiscences, and thoughtful retrospectives (notably on 1996-era albums and Riot Grrrl history), all anchored by a collaborative host duo and a rotating set of BV contributors. Noteworthy is the show's willingness to blend industry debate with fan-oriented banter, plus regular plugs for BrooklynVegan's coverage and shop. The format tends to reward listeners who want informed, opinionated takes, cross-genre relevance, and a sense of community around indie and alternative music scenes... more
