  • Worth the Listen Every Time

I just finished Jess’s Mic Drop Boot Camp and am enrolled in her 12 week Workshop Course. I’ve been listening to her Amplify podcast and I love it so much. I get many gems and actionable tips I can use right away. Just finished her last episode with Selena Rezvani about Confidence in Speaking and already feel fired up, loved every minute of it! Thank you Jess for stoking the fire and illuminating the path forward!

Q: What kept you going during the pandemic when leadership was most challenging?
Seeing that our work mattered through direct engagement from users and real impact, and reminding the team that our mission—informing and empowering readers—was worth fighting for, which helped us stay heads-down and grateful.
Making it to an Audience of 12 Million with the Founders of TheSkimm, Carly Zakin and Danielle Weisberg
Q: How did you maintain objectivity and avoid bias when covering emotionally charged topics?
We focused on clarifying the service we provide to readers: explain the issue, present the facts, and show what people are saying, without telling readers what to think. Our role is to inform and empower readers to form their own decisions, especially around issues affecting women.
The Power Pause: Why Stepping Back Might Be the Most Ambitious Thing You Ever Do
Q: What is your answer to the question of making it look like for Neha if she can continue to surround herself with women during her workday?
If I can keep surrounding myself with women, spend time with words, and be present for things like school pickups, I'll have made it, which means success is defined by community, presence, and meaningful work rather than traditional metrics.
The Power Pause: Why Stepping Back Might Be the Most Ambitious Thing You Ever Do
Q: What would you want an interviewer to know about the strengths of a mother reentering the workplace after a pause?
That caregiving builds time-management, collaboration, perspective, and a breadth of leadership skills that are highly valuable in work settings, and that employers should explore how a returning parent has continued learning and growing during the pause.
