If I said to you I have a score by Guys and Dolls’ Frank Loesser, book by Kiss Me Kate’s Sam Spewack, directed by the one and only Bob Fosse, and starring television personality Phyllis Newman, you’d probably ask where could you invest because this ... more
I never miss an Arthur Miller musical!
Yes, you read that correctly. Arthur Miller, the voice of gritty American realism, whose plays confronted capitalism, communism, and catastrophe one day woke up and decided to be the next Jerry Herman. You see... more

I’ve been a fan of the wonderful Rob W Schneider since discovering the apparently defunct Behind The Curtain. His wit and love for the form make this an especially entertaining education in some very rare titles. The latest, Up From Paradise, was new to me. Where else are we going to get such thorough coverage of commercially unsuccessful shows? The extensive audio clips really make the episode feel immediate. Often I found myself thinking that these songs are truly terrific, and so I’m thankful... more
If you are ever feeling down, listen to Rob W. Schneider’s “Gone With the Wind” episode. All the Broadway Bound episodes are superb, but the “Bonnie Gone” segment of the “Gone With the Wind” episode will make you double over with intense laughter and joy. Who would have thought that a podcast about failed Broadway-aspiring musicals would be so life-affirming?
Five stars for Rib’a erudition, his great voice, and the perfect tone he sets for these stories. Never mocking, but always a wry sense of humor peeking through all the history. The “anyway,” Rob, is because you need to be more careful with your editing! (I say this as a non professional but I assume we needn’t hear the actor refer to a “page turn…”.) Am looking forward to next season! Prettybelle? Kelly? The Lady Comes Across? xoxo
Can you please master your recordings to even out the audio levels?? The dynamic range is way too broad for podcasts and makes certain things hard to hear. Love the show tho!
Very enjoyable series on huge Broadway failures that closed on the road. The best part is listening to folks who were eye witnesses to these debacles. We get interviews with some of the actors and even a producer! There remarks are candid and seen from the perspective of 20-30 years (or more) later. We are also treated to recreations of the scripts and live recordings of the scores. Busker Alley was a treat to hear as well as a couple of fine numbers from Paper Moon. For all those who curious ab... more
