  • Funny but grating

Love the podcast even though I’m not a big drinker but struggle with how Lee sounds like he’s talking with something in his mouth/ talking whilst clearing food out of his teeth all the time. It’s very close to hearing someone eat which I can’t stand. He’s very lovely and the podcast is really funny but, not sure I can get past the mouth fullness sounds!

  • We need podcast etiquette Alan !

This is a really good podcast and I thoroughly enjoy it and I’ve listened to most of the episodes numerous times and still laugh. However Alan as much as I could listen to you all day you still also need to let your podcast guests actually get a full sentence out without interrupting them, or talking over them with one of your stories, thoughts or feelings. Some of the guests go to bring up an extremely interesting point, however you have a tendency to cut them off mid sentence and it can be ext... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Orange Wine, Pork Sarnies and Lee's Making Headlines
Q: And why does this wine cut through the fat of the sandwich so well, what's happening here?
The wine's acidity and the fat-slaying profile help lift the palate, with a citrusy, fruity backbone that complements the pork while the bubbles or spray of effervescence in some styles cleanses the mouth for another bite.
The Masked Singer, WikiFeet & The Ultimate Martini Masterclass
Q: What are the five Ds of martinis and how do they influence making the drink?
They guide you from the base (drink and dry components) to how you dilute and dress the drink, with emphasis on personal preference for dryness, using the right vermouth, choosing gin or vodka, and finishing with a garnish or rim for aroma.
Alan & Lee Meet A Crisp Sommelier
Q: How did you get into pairing crisps with drinks, and what sparked your Crisp Sommelier concept?
Ridley describes drawing from decades in the drinks world, then discovering that crisps added a tangible, shareable texture to drinks, which inspired a practical, entertaining framework for pairing.
Holly Willoughby: Life After Daytime TV, Martinis & Tequila
Q: What inspired Holly to start Make Some Noise and shift to YouTube?
Holly explains the appeal of YouTube as a space for freedom and a less scripted format, allowing authentic conversations and collaboration with friends, while also emphasizing the appeal of connecting with her audience in a visual, more intimate way.
Wimbledon, Pimms & Prosecco vs. Cava
Q: Does Prosecco really offer better value for a welcome drink than Cava?
Yes, when priced similarly, Cava often provides similar or better quality with crisper, finer bubbles and can be a better budget pick for group settings.
