  • Fun and Insightful

Mixing humor with thoughtful and insightful film discussion, this is a one for the horror lovers right here. Xero and Sharai know their stuff and say what they feel which is not always the case as so many in the business of film review are so easily swayed by bias or fear of having an opinion thst may not be well received. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for real horror discussions.

  • Found what I’ve been looking for!

The commentary, the insight, the laughs and references all in the strange darling episode sealed the deal for me. This is such a fun listen bcuz I don’t get to chat movies with a lot of people, and this is just what I’ve needed after seeing a movie and I need to hear some quality feedback on!

  • Contradictions Aplenty

Been listening for almost a year, and it’s an okay podcast, fun if not always well informed. I come across a lot of contradictions from various episodes. This week the hosts were stressing the need to stay informed of rotten people working in the industry, then make the decision of whether or not to watch/support the project/movie they’re involved with. Basically, can you separate the art from the (nasty) artist?

Q: What inspired your Give Me An A involvement and how did you manage production under pressure?

Link-Up at the Intersection w/ Monica Moore-Suriyage
Q: How do you approach creating a wow moment within budget constraints?
Monica shares that she leans into a slower burn, uses tight shooting schedules, and focuses the big payoff at the end, while planning the production with only essential scenes and sometimes shooting out of sequence to save time and resources.
Link-Up at the Intersection w/ Monica Moore-Suriyage
Q: How did you transition from film school to making your first horror short and break into the Horror Noire documentary?
She explains starting from scratch in LA, collaborating with friends for a short inspired by a mold problem in a house, taking on writing herself, and leveraging a network (Ashley Blackwell, Phil from Fangoria) to get noticed and recommended for Horror Noire, which connected her with larger opportunities and audiences.
Link-Up at the Intersection w/ Monica Moore-Suriyage
Q: What is your horror origin story?
Monica describes growing up as a scaredy-cat who wasn't into horror, then having a pivotal moment when watching 28 Days Later and seeing a Black woman character in charge sparked a deep interest and critique, leading her to pursue film school and eventually make scary work she could control and own.
