Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

S1 Int7 - Interview with Christopher Thomas
Q: If you could pick one writer, living or historical, who would it be if you had an hour with them to just sit and chat?
Anna Burns, for Milkman, a novel I found especially inspiring for its unusual paragraph and dialogue structure, and I'd love to discuss her ideation process and how those choices shaped the narrative voice.
S1 Int7 - Interview with Christopher Thomas
Q: Are you somebody who prefers to write longhand, keyboard, or something else?
I've always typed and do most writing on apps or voice dictation, then move everything into the computer for editing; longhand isn't comfortable for me.
S1 Int7 - Interview with Christopher Thomas
Q: Was there anything you were nervous about including, maybe a concept you weren't sure you were equipped to approach?
I was nervous about addressing multiple personalities in a literary realism format due to real-world psychological implications, which is why I moved to a speculative form that lets me examine the idea without misrepresenting real disorders.
S1 Int7 - Interview with Christopher Thomas
Q: Do you have experience with seeing people going through and sorting their personalities out and dressing different areas of their personality yourself?
Not exactly as a clinical observation, but as a writer I acknowledge that people behave differently in different circumstances, and I treat these variations as distinct inner voices rather than mere shifts in mood, to explore deeper questions about self.
S1 Int7 - Interview with Christopher Thomas
Q: All right. So the first question we have for you today, can you tell us a little bit about where this story began? Was it an image? Was it a character? What's the seed of this story? Where did it germinate from?
The seed came from the idea of personalities and how they manifest in us, which I expanded into a speculative framework to explore how identities form without getting bogged down in medical diagnoses, allowing a broader reflection on personality development.
