  • Keep on Takin’

I started listening about 2 weeks ago as it was always on my list to listen to after I caught up on other podcasts. So I’m now up to date and onto Just Tak.

I was sad when Matty left because you both have great banter/chemistry but I also understand his reasonings for leaving. Hopefully he can pop in now and then and give us all updates on his son’s dramatic soap opera of a love life and if the chickens have finally had enough and attempted a Chicken Run situation because of the blatant neglige... more

  • Fantastic show!

Absolutely love the show. Missing Neighbours SO MUCH, so having Tak & Matty here once a week is such a joy- and that’s not to mention the guests! All our favourites, with wonderful behind-the-scenes stories from the show, but also it’s been really amazing to hear about their work pre- and post-Neighbours. Let’s hope the show returns in some form or another eventually, but in the meantime, Tak & Matty are doing such a fan service here- huge thanks to you both and to each & every one of your fabul... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

shane isheev (neighbours script producer) | 28
Q: What storyline of David's did you hate doing? (duplicate per above for emphasis in the interview structure)
See the earlier response about David's storylines and the balance between humor and character integrity; the discussion highlighted the ongoing negotiation between writing speed, actor input, and audience reception.
shane isheev (neighbours script producer) | 28
Q: How did you get into Neighbours?
I started as a development producer at Matchbox Pictures, used contacts to get introduced to the Neighbours' team, and pitched a self-made, year-long showrun idea along with a thick series bible to stand out; eventually a door opened through connections with Luke Devinish, Julie, Stephen Vard, and Jason, which led me onto the show.
shane isheev (neighbours script producer) | 28
Q: What storyline of David's did you hate doing? What is something that you were just like, oh, you did it anyway or you took real issue with, or maybe it's just that it wasn't your cup of tea?
The only things I took umbrage with were when the comedy of David wasn't about something funny but making fun of him; I felt some storylines pushed his character into humor at the expense of his core traits, though I understood the broader intent in the room.
matthew backer | 30
Q: Why do you act, sir? That's what I'm going to start with.
He explains that acting allows him to explore different versions of himself, connect with people, and tell stories; he emphasizes the long journey from journalism to acting and the importance of bringing authenticity to his work.
nathan borg (curtis from neighbours) | 29
Q: What were the biggest challenges on set during COVID, and how did you advocate for yourself?
He describes wearing masks affecting lip-reading and how he asked for and received clear masks and better cues from directors through sign language, which allowed him to stay on set and contribute to the storytelling without compromising safety.
