  • Excellent Bible Teaching

John is one of the best Bible teachers I’ve been privileged to listen to - concise and down to earth. My favorite thing about this podcast is that I can confidently share it with young believers or non-believers, knowing they will hear a grace and truth filled message that is easy to understand.

  • Theology for everyone

Pastor John asks the questions that many people — in and out of church — get stuck on. And brings the Bible into the conversations being had in culture. This podcast really is “blue jeans theology” — it’s for everyone.

  • Great Bible teacher, so helpful...

John Whittaker is really a blessing to listen to, glean from, and be stirred to dig into what the text is saying, wrestling with, etc. He has a gift with explaining difficult passages to help us see the background, context and meaning behind the authors intent. I highly recommend listening to his podcast, you will be glad you did!!

  • Really benefitting from this resource

Thanks to Preston Sprinkle for showcasing John. I’ve been listening to the older shows for the past couple week. I’m just eating them up. I’m looking forward to betting current with the new shows but that also means I won’t have so many shows to listen to. Anyway, thanks for what you do, John. This show is just good solid content with the call to faithful Jesus-discipleship action.

He presents information in a very coherent, concise, and applicable way, and focuses on making sure everything he says in regard to teaching is straight from scripture. Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Giving People a Chance to Love the Bible, with special guest Matt Whitman
Q: What motivated you to write The Lightning-Fast Field Guide to the Bible?
Whitman explains a desire to make the Bible make sense for modern readers, to counter the perception that biblical study is only for scholars, and to provide a compact, practical tool that helps people grasp the story and main ideas without getting lost in jargon.
Bonus Episode: Serving Jesus in Yukon Territory, with Jeremy Norton
Q: What strategies helped break soil and attract new believers?
Explain the Bible openly every week, remove insider-only codes, use simple Gospel presentations like a screen-prayer, and provide follow-up materials such as study Bibles with recipients' names and baptism opportunities.
Bonus Episode: Serving Jesus in Yukon Territory, with Jeremy Norton
Q: What are the unique challenges of ministry in Whitehorse?
The area is highly secular with a significant portion of the population identifying as atheist or agnostic, making faithful outreach a persistent, long-term effort. The church has focused on practical, welcoming teaching and intentional follow-up to invite people into faith.
If our sins are forgiven, why do we need to confess them? | 1 John 1:9
Q: Why do we need to confess our sins if our sins have already been forgiven?
Confession acknowledges our sins, promotes spiritual health, and signifies our ongoing relationship with God.
Honesty with God - What Can God Hear? | pt. 3 with Kyle Strobel
Q: What do you think might help us with that?
Practices like watchfulness in prayer and praying through the Psalms can help individuals confront feelings they may not typically bring to God.
