Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Agentic AI & cybersecurity: Who wins defenders or attackers?
Q: Why did you start the AI Awards and how do they influence the UK's standing in AI and cybersecurity?
The AI Awards were created to celebrate and accelerate progress in AI responsibly, tying together government, industry, and academia to showcase talent and integrity in a way that helps sustain a positive national ecosystem for AI development and cybersecurity.
Agentic AI & cybersecurity: Who wins defenders or attackers?
Q: What keeps you awake about the rapid integration of AI into security, and what practical advice would you give boards?
The biggest worry is the potential for rapid, widespread abuse if defenses lag; so I advise boards to frame cybersecurity as a core business risk, ensure fast investment in protection, and maintain robust governance that keeps humans in the loop to prevent overreliance on automation alone.
Agentic AI & cybersecurity: Who wins defenders or attackers?
Q: What are your thoughts on Mythos and how it might change the balance between attackers and defenders?
My take is that Mythos represents an evolution of capabilities that could accelerate both offensive and defensive work, but the key is that defenders will always need to maintain a superior operating stance by staying ahead, investing in defenses, and leveraging AI to uncover vulnerabilities before attackers exploit them.
AI – Why it’s game on for coders
Q: How is AI integrated into Coding Black Females' courses?
AI is embedded across all courses to enhance learning, assess progress, and demonstrate reflective use, while instructors monitor outputs to guard against bias and ensure understanding.
AI – Why it’s game on for coders
Q: Why coding, and not another field, for empowering people in tech?
Charlene attributes it to her background as a software engineer and the collaborative nature of tech communities, which naturally support skill sharing, mentoring, and scalable impact.
