Recently been diagnosed as Autistic and ADHD at 42. Teacher and assistant headteacher, glad to have some answers to some of my challenges. Here to learn more and this podcast has not disappointed. Loved to learn more about the ADHD/autistic teacher community. Thank you so much.
I’m a SEN teacher working along with Autistic students and I love the way Gareth said, Let them be, let them wore just a pair of shoes if that’s what they want !! Understanding them, supporting them they will show the Stars they are . Focusing on their interest and abilities is the way to work with our autistic students, rather than focusing on just their needs or weaknesses, as we all have!
Just started listening and if you ever need a cohost let me know : ) assistant head at an SEN school for autism and communication difficulties
The first episode is by far the most useful for teachers! I would love to hear more classroom management strategies (particularly 3-4yrs) and how to handle explaining to the other children why the autistic child may be sliding across the table when they know that’s not allowed etc. more
I am currently training as a teaching assistant and find Steph’s podcasts really interesting. A lot of the shows are helpful for dealing with all children, not just Autistic children. I’m really enjoying listening, thank you
