  • Love it.

Love these two as they discuss fun topics surrounding all things art. Easy to listen to and understand. Sometimes I’m intimidated by art and artists because it feels very “insider only” at times. They make it easy to grasp and the topics are interesting.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Why Great Designers Leave Success Behind | Gus Granger on Creativity, Branding & AI
Q: What entry point do you look for when sitting down with a client to understand their brand story?
I start with the human aspect, translating complex technology into stories about safety, confidence, and everyday experiences that real people feel and relate to, then I layer in strategy to guide the creative direction.
Dan Lee From Chemical Engineer to Artist: Why He Risked Everything for Creativity
Q: What led you to leave chemical engineering for graphic design?
A combination of personal uncertainty and a pivotal job-ssearch moment pushed him to listen to a deeper sense of purpose. After a stressful 24-hour job-application period and a real fear-driven pause, he chose to pursue graphic design, trusting that his passion and skills could form a viable career.
How African Typography Is Changing Global Design | Chisaokwu Joboson
Q: What does it feel like to have a typeface dropped on Google Fonts and see the world respond?
It validates the work, signals a home for the idea, and elicits a strong emotional response from the designer who feels both relief and pride.
How African Typography Is Changing Global Design | Chisaokwu Joboson
Q: What makes type design so rigorous and technically challenging when you start a new typeface like Ojuju?
Beyond drawing shapes, you must harmonize metrics, kerning, and overall contrast; reverse-contrast or unconventional approaches can complicate the learning curve but lead to distinctive results.
How African Typography Is Changing Global Design | Chisaokwu Joboson
Q: What is the difference between a brand that looks interesting and a brand that communicates the truth about the people behind it?
Authenticity and storytelling; brands must convey genuine purpose and align visuals with the brand's mission to avoid hollow or superficial consumer perceptions.
