  • Sound quality

Ep 575 had such poor sound quality for the guest. It was virtually impossible to understand. If the guest is on a mobile phone you need to ensure quality. Disappointing as what I could discern was really useful.

  • Hits the points. Good guests. Even better host that should have better guests.

Really a top notch gentleman. Wish he would push a bit more and not ease on some gueats. He could get even better guests simply because of the quality of his interviewing. Great industry expert and podcast.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

870: Managing the New Spend Frontier: AI Tokens in Procurement W/ Jon Winsett
Q: How should a procurement team begin to govern AI token spend and what practical steps can they take?
He suggests increasing visibility into token usage, adding contract clauses for audit rights and visibility, enabling model routing to mix in open-source options, and implementing spend guards such as caps and session-level limits to prevent runaway costs.
870: Managing the New Spend Frontier: AI Tokens in Procurement W/ Jon Winsett
Q: First of all, what is an AI token and how are we pricing them?
Jon explains that a token is text input and output; pricing is typically consumption-based, with frontier models evolving from sequence-based to hybrid and now fully consumption-based as usage scales with agentic AI.
EP 08: Startup of the Week: Suplari W/ Jeff Gerber
Q: Brilliant. Thank you. So Jeff, for those who don't know about your company, what does Supplari do?
Supplari focuses on bringing AI to procurement by helping teams understand spend and explore scenarios, then enabling action through an AI agent that helps orchestrate activities like renegotiation and changing purchasing behavior to capture value faster.
869: The Modern Operating Model: Building a Lean, High-Value Procurement Team W/ Stephen Rauf
Q: Did you find procurement or did procurement find you?
Procurement found me; I started in IT and discovered procurement is where influence, value creation, and systems come together, serving as a cross-functional connector across the business.
EP 07: Procurement as Ecosystem Builder in the Age of AI W/ Saurabh Gupta
Q: How should CPOs think about AI and the new blended category?
CPOs should treat AI as a strategic capability, focus on reducing debts (data, technology, people, process), and craft a narrative that positions procurement as an ecosystem builder rather than a cost center.
