  • Sound quality

Ep 575 had such poor sound quality for the guest. It was virtually impossible to understand. If the guest is on a mobile phone you need to ensure quality. Disappointing as what I could discern was really useful.

  • Hits the points. Good guests. Even better host that should have better guests.

Really a top notch gentleman. Wish he would push a bit more and not ease on some gueats. He could get even better guests simply because of the quality of his interviewing. Great industry expert and podcast.

EP 11: Provider of the Week: Valdera
Q: For anyone who may not be familiar, what does Valdera do today? Also, how has your solution evolved over time?
Valdera is an AI sourcing platform built for chemical and raw material procurement teams, partnering with manufacturers to digitize the entire end-to-end workflow—from material ingestion to supplier onboarding and RFQ management—while evolving from a data science focus to an AI layer on top of a large proprietary chemical spec dataset to deliver more impactful decision support and automation.
872: Beyond Automation: Accelerating Agentic AI Transformation in Procurement W/ Vishal Patel
Q: Were there any typical patterns of use cases for those organizations that did that initial adoption and governance?
Patterns show procurement teams focusing on activities that waste time, using AI to unlock faster value, scale sourcing events, and gradually broaden AI-enabled capabilities while maintaining governance and data quality.
872: Beyond Automation: Accelerating Agentic AI Transformation in Procurement W/ Vishal Patel
Q: Do you see that we've moved past that as we're thinking about AI and agentic AI in terms of our procurement operating models?
There are two camps: those who have fully started with AI and moved forward, and those still in early adoption, trying to get people to use basic tools like Copilot; the emphasis is on governance, policies, and progress, not paralysis.
870: Managing the New Spend Frontier: AI Tokens in Procurement W/ Jon Winsett
Q: How should a procurement team begin to govern AI token spend and what practical steps can they take?
He suggests increasing visibility into token usage, adding contract clauses for audit rights and visibility, enabling model routing to mix in open-source options, and implementing spend guards such as caps and session-level limits to prevent runaway costs.
870: Managing the New Spend Frontier: AI Tokens in Procurement W/ Jon Winsett
Q: First of all, what is an AI token and how are we pricing them?
Jon explains that a token is text input and output; pricing is typically consumption-based, with frontier models evolving from sequence-based to hybrid and now fully consumption-based as usage scales with agentic AI.
