  • Sound quality

Ep 575 had such poor sound quality for the guest. It was virtually impossible to understand. If the guest is on a mobile phone you need to ensure quality. Disappointing as what I could discern was really useful.

  • Hits the points. Good guests. Even better host that should have better guests.

Really a top notch gentleman. Wish he would push a bit more and not ease on some gueats. He could get even better guests simply because of the quality of his interviewing. Great industry expert and podcast.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Strategic Divestments: Turning Factory Closures into Supplier Innovation Opportunities W/ Alessandro Comerci
Q: Did you step into this thinking, okay, I've got deep commercial expertise and skills from being a professional, but I will just apply them here? Or did you have to step back and accept new learnings?
The guest explains that the role demanded mastering HR procedures and labor law, as well as building trust with unions and site leadership, rather than relying solely on commercial expertise.
860: Inside AOP's Catalyst Event Series: Elevating CPO Collaboration Beyond the Conference Room W/ Philip Ideson and Jim Cahalan
Q: Did you find procurement, or did procurement find you?
Jim explains that procurement found him through a winding career path, including early work in baking and catering, and that his transition into corporate events allowed him to leverage cross-functional skills while discovering a passion for facilitating procurement communities.
BTW EP 27: Data or Delusion? Procurement's Future Runs on Truth
Q: How should leaders think about data quality and governance to enable AI-enabled procurement?
Leaders should establish a data governance framework that explicitly defines data sources, trust criteria, and tolerance for inaccuracy. They should invest in comprehensive data collection beyond basic fields and implement mechanisms for continuous validation and auditing of data used by AI agents.
BTW EP 27: Data or Delusion? Procurement's Future Runs on Truth
Q: Given everything you've said, what's Procurement in 2026's relationship with data?
Procurement will rely on robust, governance-backed data that AI coworkers can trust, with human validation focused on overseeing data quality and context rather than performing routine checks. The goal is a data-driven, P&L–validated function where automation handles routine tasks while humans manage governance and exceptions.
EP 02: Startup of the Week: SourceReady W/ Ricky Ho
Q: In your own words, what does SourceReady do?
SourceReady automates the high-value, unstructured parts of sourcing—discovering suppliers, optimizing sourcing strategies, and automating outreach—so procurement teams can focus on strategic decisions rather than repetitive tasks.
