  • Great FAB podcast!

Wonderful balance of thoughtful analysis of the game while still leaving room for both of the hosts’ personalities to come through. Episodes are in depth but always well paced, with a high ratio of content that is directly about the game.

  • The best Spikey FaB Pod

Hayden and Brendan are great at digging deep, and the way they try to take advice about specific decks/metas and glean more broadly applicable heuristics makes this one of my favourite strategy and improvement tools. Swag.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Arsenal Pass Ep260 - The 5th Aniversary Special!
Q: How did James White come up with the concept of pitch stacking and second cycle, and how did that become a pillar of the game design?
James explains that it took seven years to design the game system, and that pitching blues to the bottom of the deck created a meaningful late-game mechanic. This allowed for a start-strong gameplay feel and a wear-down dynamic that aligns with a strategic pacing and resource management theme, ultimately shaping how players approach cycles and endgames.
Arsenal Pass EP 257 - Arakni, Huntsman Masterclass
Q: How does Huntsman play differently from other top decks?
Huntsman is framed as a middle-ground deck that disrupts the opponent's plan by attacking their deck rather than just dealing damage, with Raven Gloves and on-hit effects creating a relentless, turn-by-turn pressure that accelerates the game.
Arsenal Pass EP 257 - Arakni, Huntsman Masterclass
Q: Why Huntsman for you, and did you consider other heroes?
Both guests describe testing multiple options but converge on Huntsman because its disruption framework and proactive tempo suit the current meta, with personal preference and testing leading them to choose Huntsman over alternatives like Slippy, Marionette, or Dash IO.
Arsenal Pass EP 258 - Bans, Unbans & Goldmane Supremacy?!
Q: Given the current Silver Age and Pro Tour meta, what are the top three decks you'd expect to see and why?
They expect Marionette and Asilio to be among the most represented due to proactive pressure and strong matchups, with Victor or Vinsett likely in the mix as versatile options; the discussion acknowledges a wide meta with potential for three decks to dominate representation, depending on day-two adjustments and sideboard strategies.
Arsenal Pass EP 258 - Bans, Unbans & Goldmane Supremacy?!
Q: What are your thoughts on LSS philosophy behind re-releasing Heroes and the design direction for replacement ice-themed control heroes after Icelander LL'd?
The guest and host discussed the challenge of preserving the core identity of LL'd heroes while updating them to feel fresh, balancing thematic consistency with new card pools, and recognizing that new prints aim to offer agency without reigniting dominance of a single deck. They also noted that new releases are planned far in advance, making it a long-term design puzzle rather than quick fixes.
