Our country’s problems will never be solved by a bunch of fancy people in nice suits talking big words on CNN and Fox, but by An Army of Normal Folks just deciding “hey, I can help.” Hosted by Coach Bill Courtney from the Oscar-winning Undefeated, this podcast is building the Army and celebrating its extraordinary members. I look forward to every Army of Normal Folks episode. The stories of those who step up to meet a need and the shop talk episodes always inspire me to do better. Thanks for all you do to bring us the stories that encourage us to do more than status quo!
The show is generally good and interesting but the frequency at which the host interjects and interrupts and his own self righteousness can be overwhelming. He claims he is aware and working on this, but the behavior shows he is incapable of asking questions without interjecting his own self importance. It can really reduce the message being shared by people who are generally doing great things. So I approached our nurse manager in the OB unit at the hospital that I work at , I told her about the program and sent her information. She was more than receptive. She is currently working on getting a baby box for the OB unit of our hospital. It’s a process, but at least our small community will hopefully have a baby... more
I’ve been a listener since day one. I find Coach Bill’s perspective, and his own journey learning about the people in his community, inspiring, relatable, and heartwarming. My views on so many things have changed because of this podcast and the people he highlights. I recommend this podcast every chance I get. Coach Bill’s heart and passion for humanity are evident; he makes me want to be better.
Shop talk 39, I loved this idea - for those who live away from their parents or other elderly relatives- call them give them an hour of your time on the phone. For the last 3 or so years I have called my mom twice a day, on my way back and forth to and from work. She lives on her own on her farm so in part I checkup on her, but many times I learn more about her life.
