RD Desiree Nielsen joins me to sort the chaff from the wheat, literally. We discuss all things gut health, and delineate the science from the fearmongering, buzzwordy marketing around gut health and microbiomes. She explains how the health industry h... more
Today’s solo episode is a review of the Optavia diet (formerly Medifast), a 30-year-old diet that, surprisingly, has stood the test of time. I unpack everything from the dangerously low calorie intake and the peddling of diets to teenagers, to the de... more

I stumbled onto Abbey on Facebook a few years ago. I have loved these podcasts. She is a no-nonsense dietician who calls it like she sees it and has interesting guests to talk about things that are around a “diet culture society”.
I love Abby and have followed her on IG for a long time. Each episode is full of so much helpful information, particularly episode 12 about gut health.
It makes me so happy to hear a dietitian talk about loving food, eating and the body you’re in. As a person who has yo-yo dieted my whole life having in ingrained weekly that no foods are bad and slashing calories isn’t “healthy” I appreciate Abby and her guests’ views. I’m also a farmer and work in agriculture, so supporting all types of food and not fearing food is a huge hit button for me. I love what Abby posts on social media and her website is full of useful, well-researched information. This is why I was so excited for her podcast. I listen because she has great guests and relevant topics. So I say this next bit with a lot of love: Abby needs to work on her interviewing skills. Listen more, rant less, and dig deeper. It’s awkward to listen to sometimes, but I do because I want this information. Hopefully with experience it will get better!
Atleast a single voice if sensibility in this crazy world of diet culture !!! If you want to eat healthier, remain sane and become educated , listen to Abby !!! Thankyou
