Georges is my most quoted and favorite host since I first started listening in 2015. My mother listened to Georges when she was growing up, and since she carried on to the next generation, I’ve had the extraordinary pleasure of learning about the Garifuna, Che Feliciano & Fania Records, going to Barbes where I’m from in Brooklyn to listen to combo chimbita or cumbia tropical, and most notably, meeting the man running the Afro-Lisboan kuduro scene, DJ Marfox twice during his U.S. tours. • History, culture, but above all music!!

I first started listening to Afropop as a teenager on South Carolina public radio in about 1994. I still have a cassette I recorded off the radio. Thirty years later I still love Afropop. I have been exposed to so many wonderful musicians and genres of music. I have learned so much about the history of music too and I love it!
