Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Leni Dothan - On Art and Motherhood
Q: What are your thoughts about being part of this kind of show?
It feels like a really important exhibition, especially for bringing together artists so we're not alone anymore.
Leni Dothan - On Art and Motherhood
Q: Can you tell us a bit about your work in this exhibition, Sleeping Madonna?
The work is a video portrait showing a mother nursing her baby and falling asleep. It's motivated by real lived experiences of motherhood.
Sushila Chowdhry - On Art and Motherhood
Q: Can you tell me a little bit more about the creative methods that you use?
Art-based methods allow women to gently share and explore their experiences, facilitating connection among mothers who share similar challenges.
Sushila Chowdhry - On Art and Motherhood
Q: Can you start by asking about your research on embodiment and mother-infant inter-embodiment?
It's about the rights and interests of the mother versus those of the fetus, the experience of pregnancy, and the responsibilities placed on women regarding their body weight and fetal growth.
Jessa Fairbrother - On Art and Motherhood
Q: What are your thoughts about that?
It's so layered. I mean, it's so needed. It's a very important show to have out in the world because it's sort of... I'm a note in the essay. The essay is the show, the book, is the work, Acts of Creation is Hettie's essay. And I'm a sentence in that essay that is making a broader comment about the maternal in the world, which is really important and it needs that visibility in the platform.
